Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer has explained the process behind the Faenza-based Formula 1 team’s revised identity.
The end of Faenza’s AlphaTauri era in 2023 brought with it intrigue, would the Red Bull sister outfit revert to its old Toro Rosso moniker, or even hark further back to Mindardi branding?
It eventually became known that the team was heading to a rebrand as Racing Bulls, but this moniker was dropped as title partners Visa and Cash App came on board.
And so, Visa Cash App RB was born, with the RB element supposedly standing for very little at all, cue a 2024 with fans unsure whether to refer to this team as VCARB, RB or otherwise.
In 2025, the team has cleared things up, this is Visa Cash App Racing Bulls and fans and media alike can refer to the outfit simply as Racing Bulls moving forward.
Speaking to select media including Motorsport Week ahead of the F1 75 launch event at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday, Bayer explained that the identity connects to the wider brand launched by late founder Dietrich Mateschitz.
“Racing Bulls, I’ll give you a bit of background to it,” Bayer began.
“Obviously everybody knows we are part of the Red Bull universe, and Mr. Mateschitz has a couple of different other entities.

“For example, the Flying Bulls. He’s got a car collection which is around bulls and so on and so forth.
“So the initial idea for the team name always was Racing Bulls. We then started off last year, and we were extremely happy to get Visa on board, CashApp on board, who wanted to join us as title partners.
“We felt that’s a huge opportunity for us in the sport, but obviously we also wanted to give them enough space in the naming rights.
“But throughout the season we felt that perhaps for people who are used to the history, starting off with Toro Rosso, Alpha Tauri, it’s difficult to understand what RB stands for.
“Ultimately we decided last year, the shareholders decided last year, together with us, that we want to push forward with the initial and original identity, which is Racing Bulls.
“So we’re very excited to be here as Visa CashApp Racing Bulls.”
Racing Bulls delights at F1 75 with new look
Racing Bulls had its first public opportunity to show the F1 world what it was about at the F1 75 launch.
The team did so with a playful skit where comedian Munya Chawawa quizzed members of the public in London to see if they could work out what VCARB meant.
Chawawa’s skit showed Racing Bulls playing comically into the fact its naming saga has been a confusing one and on stage at London’s O2, confusion made way for excitement.
Unlike most teams that chose a quiet evolution of previous liveries, Racing Bulls dropped a new white-themed design, akin to the Red Bull livery from the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.
It ended up being the surprise of the night and drew a look of shock from rookie Isack Hadjar as he pulled the covers off of the VCARB02 on stage alongside team-mate Yuki Tsunoda.
The VCARB02 was seen a day later at Imola for a shakedown and the white livery contrasted beautifully with the dark asphalt of the iconic Italian circuit.
