Kush Maini went fastest in the Formula E rookie test at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, ahead of the Saudi city’s debut weekend in the all-electric champonship.
The Indian, driving for his compatriot outfit Mahindra Racing, set a time of 1.17:184, three tenths-of-a-second faster than Gabriele Mini, driving for Nissan.
Mikkel Jansen impressed in what was his first single-seater outing in nine years, grabbing third spot for Cupra Kiro with a time 0.073s adrift of the Italian.
Theo Pourchaire was fourth for Maserati MSG Racing, four tenths slower than Jansen, with former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat fifth for DS Penske.
Zak O’Sullivan, soon to be showing his wears in the ultra-competitive Japanese Super Formula championship, was sixth for Envision Racing, with Thomas Preining seventh for Tag Heuer Porsche.
Andretti reserve driver Jak Crawford was eighth, 2.2s off Maini’s time, with Jamie Chadwick ninth for Jaguar TCS Racing.
Tatiana Calderon, who drove for Maserati in the all-women’s test last November, was 10th for Lola-Yamaha-ABT, with Alex Dunne 11th for NEOM McLaren.
