Horner predicts ‘stellar year’ with four teams slated to challenge
Team Principal Christian Horner is under no illusions that the team will have its own way this year, after a 2024 which saw the team lose its Constructors’ crown to McLaren.
Speaking at the Autosport Awards on Wednesday, Horner predicted the season will be a close one with a continuation of the breadth of challengers from 2024.
“I think it’s going to be super tight,” Horner said. “You’re going to have four teams that are going to be very competitive, so take your pick.
“But McLaren is going to be strong. Ferrari is going to be strong. Mercedes are going to have something to prove as well. So, it could be a stellar year.”
Red Bull will have a congregation of fresh faces in its midst, with Lawson taking the place of Sergio Perez, as well as several key staff in a reshape of his technical team, with the likes of Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley departing elsewhere.
The team has a potential edge on some of its rivals with the allowance of extra wind tunnel time after finishing third in last year’s Constructors’ table, as per the FIA’s sliding scale rules.
