Max Verstappen and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet have announced they are expecting their first child together.
The recently crowned four-time Formula 1 World Champion has had a turbulent time off-track in recent weeks following a very public spat with Mercedes driver George Russell, which has seen the pair trade insults after a falling out in Qatar.
However some good news for the Dutchman came on Friday morning as he posted on social media that he and Piquet are expecting a “mini Verstappen-Piquet”.
“We couldn’t be happier with our little miracle,” added the pair under a photo of them holding Piquet’s stomach.
Piquet, the daughter of three-time F1 champion Nelson Piquet, already has a child with former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat. Penelope was born in 2019, the same year the pair split.
Several drivers have commented under the post, offering their congratulations, including Pierre Gasly who wrote: “Congratulations to you 2 [sic].”
“Verstappen-Piquet, all the other kids go karting can pack their bag. Congrats you two,” added Giedo van der Garde.
Presenter Natalie Pinkham write: “Sign her/him up immediately; what a gene pool. Huge congratulations and love.”
