Maserati MSG Racing have become the fifth FIA Formula E manufacturer to commit to the GEN4 era, which begins in 2026.
The Italian marque has joined Nissan, Lola, Jaguar and Porsche in announcing that it will continue in FE, with the new regulations taking effect at the beginning of Season 13.
The move ensures that the Stellantis brand will remain in Formula E, who have powered the Monaco-based squad since it joined FE in Season 9.
Maserati and FE are a well-suited match, with the brand committing to be all-electric in its road car products by 2028.
In a statement, Maserati’s CEO Santo Ficili said: “We are extremely proud to continue our commitment to as prestigious and innovative a platform as Formula E.
“For this brand, the bond between the track and the road is unbreakable and the evolution of the single-seaters shows how many possibilities for development electric mobility holds.
“We will continue to draw major developments from the races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, to transfer them into our 100% electric range that now consists of the Grecale Folgore SUV, the iconic GranTurismo Folgore and the GranCabrio Folgore convertible”.
Formula E’s CEO Jeff Dodds said: “We are thrilled to confirm Maserati’s continued commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by registering for the GEN4 era, alongside Stellantis Motorsport.
“They have both been a valuable part of our championship, and have demonstrated remarkable performances on track, while driving forward electric vehicle technology that benefits everyday road users.
“Their ongoing involvement alongside other global OEMs such as Nissan, Jaguar, Porsche and Lola, is a testament to Formula E’s status as a competitive and relevant platform for the future of electric mobility.
“We can’t wait to see the House of Trident continue its journey with Formula E and build into a new era of enhanced performance, innovation and on track action.”
Maserati will surely hope this announcement will be a springboard to further success after a mixed two seasons.
German Max Günther took a single victory in both campaigns, and last time out finished sixth in the Teams’ Championship.
The team’s progress was blunted by Günther predominately being the main points-scorer, with Edoardo Mortara and Jehan Daruvala unable to enjoy similar personal success.
With Günther now at DS Penske, the team boasts a brand-new line-up with Season 8 champion Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes joining, and with added continuity of Cyril Blais now permanently in-place as Team Principal.
