Arrow McLaren has announced that it will place Enzo Fittipaldi in one of it’s IndyCars later this month for a private test session.
The 23-year-old is currently competing in Formula 2 with Van Amersfoort Racing and sits 13th in the championship with two race weekends remaining in the 2024 season.
Last year, Fittipaldi completed his first IndyCar test with Dale Coyne Racing and got a feel for how the cars of America’s top open wheel series handle.
The upcoming test with Arrow McLaren will see him get more experience behind the wheel and allow him to sample The Thermal Club course.
“I’m very excited to announce that I will be testing with McLaren in IndyCar,” said Fittipaldi in a video on social media.
“I want to thank Zak Brown, Tony Kanaan, and everyone at McLaren for this amazing opportunity. McLaren is a team with so much history in racing and motorsports, to be able to take part in this test and to drive one of their cars is honestly an amazing opportunity.
“I’m super excited. Yes, I’m going to do my best. I’ll drive fast. Thank you guys for the support.”
Dreams of the Indianapolis 500
Fittipaldi’s older brother Pietro Fittpaldi competed in IndyCar full time in 2024 while driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
The two have been taking slightly different paths in their racing careers, although the younger Fittipaldi has seemingly been envious of Pietro’s recent participation in the Indianapolis 500.
Enzo said earlier this year that he views racing in the Indy 500 as one of his biggest dreams.
Although his test with McLaren moves him incrementally closer to that goal, the team made clear that this test is not an indicator that it is changing its three-car line-up for next season.
“Arrow McLaren will satisfy their allotted evaluation test with Enzo Fittipaldi at The Thermal Club on Tuesday, November 19,” read a statement from McLaren.
“Each lap in our cars is important as we continue preparations for the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season, and we’re proud to extend this one to Enzo, whose family is so closely connected to the history of McLaren Racing.
“We’re eager to collect learnings and apply them in the form of a points race at The Thermal Club IndyCar Grand Prix on March 23. For removal of doubt, our 2025 lineup is firm with Pato, Nolan and Christian.”
