Andre Lotterer is being considered by Kiro Race Co for its second seat for the upcoming FIA Formula E season.
Motorsport Week understands that the German veteran is on the team’s list to partner Dan Ticktum, who is expected to be retained after allegedly playing a key role in introducing the Chinese outfit to its new American owners, Forest Road.
Lotterer, who is leaving Porsche Penske Motorsport at the end of the World Endurance Championship season this weekend, has already confirmed to media ahead of the 8 Hours of Bahrain that he has “many options” in regards to racing next year, adding: “Obviously I’ve been with Porsche a long time, so the loyalty is there to stay together and do other projects together.”
Porsche is now supplying Kiro with year-old powertrains for Season 11, having previously been a standalone manufacturer.
It has already been reported that David Beckmann, the works team’s reserve driver, is also in the frame to take the spot, suggesting influence from Stuttgart is already being felt.
Sergio Sette Camara, who has raced in Formula E since 2019 and has partnered Ticktum for the previous two seasons under the team’s previous guises as NIO and ERT, appears to be out in the cold, although the Brazilian’s name has not been scrubbed off the list entirely.
Lotterer, a three-times Le Mans 24 Hours winner, competed in Formula E from Seasons 4 to 6, finishing on the podium eight times.
Along with Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, Lotterer could become a WEC champion this weekend, the trio’s #6 car leading the standings by 35 points from Ferrari AF Corse.
Lotterer also is a one-time Formula 1 driver, having entered the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix for Caterham, but retired on the opening lap.
He had previously been a test driver for Jaguar Racing between 2000 and 2003, becoming its official test driver in 2002.
