Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz topped an extended 90-minute FP2 session at the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix on Friday.
A Pirelli tyre test necessitated a 30-minute extension to the standard hour of running – which was interrupted when Mercedes’ George Russell crashed out early on.
Still, Sainz rose to the top of the timesheets with a 1:17.699s lap time, 0.178s clear of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in second place.

RB’s Yuki Tsunoda made the top three once again with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in fourth.
A late run on the medium compound tyre granted McLaren’s Lando Norris fifth place, with Kevin Magnussen sixth for Haas.
Lewis Hamilton went seventh fastest in his Mercedes and Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas impressed with a second successive top-10 appearance.
That left Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and RB’s Liam Lawson to round out the top-10.
