Mercedes’ George Russell set the early pace at the Mexico City Grand Prix, topping the Formula 1 leaderboard at the end of FP1.
Russell went fastest in a fragmented session interrupted by two red flags, with his 1:17.998s benchmark was 0.317s clear of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

RB’s Yuki Tsunoda did well to finish third amid the limited running, going over a tenth quicker than Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, but the Dutchman’s car was plagued by a power unit issue.
Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg also starred as the German rounded out the top five.
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took sixth, 0.960s off of the ultimate pace, with Alpine’s Esteban Ocon in seventh.
Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas, RB’s Liam Lawson and home hero Sergio Perez rounded out the top-10.
