Porsche has announced Gabriela Jílková and Marta García will drive the Porsche 99X Electric in the all-female Formula E test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia next month.
With testing for Season 11 moving ever closer, the identity of the two drivers to participate in the test shows a statement of intent from the German manufacturer.
Participating in the test is a logical next step for Jílková who was the simulator and development driver for Porsche in Valencia last year, completing 43 laps and racing in the GT4 European Series.
García took part in the 2023 rookie test before going on to win the inaugural F1 Academy title in 2023 and is currently racing in the Formula Regional European by Alpine series.
The Spanish driver also has strong associations with Iron Dames, a project that seeks to increase women’s participation in involvement in motorsport and is critical to the FE all-female test.
Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E praised its chosen drivers, highlighting the importance of the test to bring more women into the sport.
“At Porsche we firmly believe that diverse teams are more successful. To that extent we are very happy to support Formula E’s initiative. We are delighted to have Gabriela on board again and would like to extend a warm welcome to Marta.
Iron Dames are one of the biggest promoters of women in motorsport. Our pre-season preparations can only benefit from the additional impressions of these two drivers. At the same time, we want to ensure that Gabriela and Marta get as much as possible out of the opportunity for themselves.”
Drivers excited for test
Modlinger’s sentiment was echoed by Jílková and García, who spoke of the value of the experience of racing with the team that won the Season Ten Drivers’ Championship.
Jílková spoke of her excitement to get back behind the wheel of 99X Electric and delight in taking part in the historic all-female test.
: “I’m really happy that I get to drive the Porsche 99X Electric again. It is always an honour to represent the Porsche works team.” She said.
I’m excited to see how the new car performs. It goes without saying that I am also pleased to be part of the first Formula E test sessions specifically for women.”
García said the test would be a learning experience, adding that she was happy the test is taking place at her home track.
“I’m super excited to be part of the Formula E testing for women. And Im even happier that I get to be involved in this with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team”, she said.
“They are one of the best teams in the field and I am really looking forward to learning from and with them.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Porsche and the Iron Dames for this opportunity. I can’t wait to drive the 99X Electric – and on my fantastic home track as well,” she concluded.
