FIA Formula E team ERT has appeared to change its name amid speculation the Chinese constructor will become a Porsche customer.
The team has raced under several guises in the sport’s ten-year history, initially as China Racing, which propelled Nelson Piquet Jr to the first-ever Formula E Drivers’ Championship.
However, the team has struggled to repeat such success, not winning an E-Prix since Piquet’s victorious campaign, and failing to score a podium since Season 4.
The Silverstone-based squad finished last in the Season 10 Teams’ Championship with a meagre 23 points, its best finish being fourth via Dan Ticktum at an incident-packed Misano race.
Suspicion around the team’s future has grown in the past week, with many Formula E fans noting that its X account has deleted several posts, the most recent now dated back to 2021.
It has also now changed its handle to what appears to be its new name – Kiro Race Co – a name also added to Formula E’s official website.
The changes come amid reports that it will now no longer be a works Formula E constructor, and will opt to run old Porsche powertrains.
Ticktum and Camara set to stay at ERT/Kiro despite Fenestraz talks
The same report by The Race has revealed that Sacha Fenestraz, recently replaced at Nissan by Norman Nato, has had talks with the team.
Motorsport Week additionally understands that Fenestraz was recently in the UK – the Argentinian showing himself to be in London on his Instagram story – specifically to meet with the team in a last-ditch bid to find a seat for Season 11.
However, it appears that Sergio Sette Camara and Dan Ticktum will remain with the team, with confirmation likely to come next week, as “All will be revealed on 10.10.2024” has strewn onto its X bio, as well as a brand new website teasing the same date.
