RB has announced it will race in this weekend’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in a denim-inspired colour scheme as part of a collaboration with team partner Hugo.
The Faenza-based squad has been associated with Hugo, the German fashion brand which is part of the Hugo Boss label, this term as part of the rebrand last winter.
RB’s partnership with Hugo will now extend into a special livery to be run under the lights in Marina Bay, featuring a light-blue denim pattern on the nose and sidepods.
This lighter shade of blue is complimented by a darker denim blue on the chassis and the endplates, with RB’s pit garage to also be decked out in the unique design.
Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda‘s race overalls will also incorporate the same denim pattern to be worn across the coming race weekend in Singapore.
“Over the years we’ve seen fashion brands join forces with F1 teams and drivers, especially when it comes to outfits, but never have we seen any of them take this step in full immersing themselves on track too,” Ricciardo said.
“We’re really raising the stakes here and paving the way, showcasing that there’s so much more that can be done for brands to explore.
“I think we’re definitely going to open the eyes of these fashion houses and see more fashion-inspired liveries come to life.”
Tsunoda added: “Fashion is one of my passion points, so to see our team collaborating in such a unique way, beyond our team kit and our daily HUGO outfits is super cool, especially since no one else has ever done it before.”
