Kevin Magnussen will start the Dutch Grand Prix from the pit lane after making two changes to his Haas car under parc ferme conditions.
The FIA’s technical delegate’s report shows that the Dane has opted for a new energy store on his car, which is “the third (3) of the two (2) new energy stores allowed” over the course of the season.
The report also writes that Haas have also changed the control electronics, likewise the third of two allowed.
The matter was referred to the stewards, their report stating that the “Power Unit elements used are in excess of the permitted number,” breaching both Articles 28.2 and 40.3 of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, and in accordance with Article 40.9, Magnussen is now required to start the race from the pit lane.
Magnussen made it through Q1 in Saturday’s qualifying session, but along with team-mate Nico Hulkenberg, failed to progress from Q2, finally finishing in 15h place.
