Mercedes’ George Russell topped a dry Friday afternoon practice session for the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix courtesy of a 1:10.702s tour of the Zandvoort circuit.
The top four ran in the order of Mercedes – McLaren – Mercedes – McLaren – with Oscar Piastri 0.061s off of Russell’s best effort.
Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton duly wound up third and fourth respectively.
That left Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to complete the top five. 0.284s off of the ultimate pace set by Russell.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso finished an encouraging sixth with RB’s Yuki Tsunoda an equally impressive seventh.
Kevin Magnussen did well to post the eighth-quickest time for Haas which no doubt will cause Charles Leclerc much concern, given the Ferrari driver wound up ninth.
That left Williams’ Alex Albon to round out the top-10.
