Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin continued to dominate the weekend’s proceedings heading into qualifying, finishing as lead rider in every MotoGP practice session thus far at Silverstone.
His lap time of 1.59.039s continued his strong momentum from Friday, with championship rival Francesco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro finishing only 0.069s behind.
The factory Aprilia duo of Espargaro and Maverick Vinales continued their strong showing from Friday to occupy third and sixth place in the final practice classification.
VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio’s late lap times elevated his position to fourth, with factory Ducati rider Enea Bastainini occupying fifth spot.
Franco Morbidelli’s upturn in form continued as he put his Pramac Ducati seventh on the timesheet, ahead of lead KTM rider Jack Miller, who has featured in the top-10 in all practice sessions.
Gresini’s Marc Marquez and Tech3’s Pedro Acosta rounded off the top-10, with the three manufacturers of Ducati, Aprilia and KTM separated by under half a second.
Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse could only muster 11th and 14th place, with GP23 Ducati riders Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi separating the American-owned team’s riders.
KTM’s Brad Binder finished in a lowly 15th but was only 0.738s off the leaders, highlighting Silverstone’s tight playing field heading into qualifying.
Once more, the Japanese manufacturers of Honda and Yamaha occupied the lower echelons of the grid, with Fabio Quartararo earning himself 16th spot.
Luca Marini finished a respectable 17th place, displaying the upturn in his form in recent races aboard the difficult factory Honda.
Augusto Fernandez’s struggles continued aboard his GasGas machine as he finished this session in 18th place, 0.8s off of Binder, his closest competitor out of the KTM/GasGas quartet.
Factory rider Joan Mir followed in 19th ahead of the LCR Honda duo of Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakgami.
Remy Gardner continued his education aboard the Yamaha M1 in his wildcard appearance but once more finished the final practice session in last place.
Yamaha rider Alex Rins elected to withdraw from the weekend following a crash in yesterday’s second practice session, avoiding the risk of further injuries.
