FIA Formula E Season 8 champion Stoffel Vandoorne, has parted ways with the DS Penske team after two seasons.
The Belgian has endured a difficult period with the Franco-American outfit, finishing 11th and 10th in both seasons with the team, having arrived as reigning champion with Mercedes-EQ. His best result was third place in Monaco in Season 10, the only podium finish for the team, and his first top three result in almost two years.
In a statement, Team Principal Jay Penske said:
“We are truly grateful to Stoffel for his commitment and the outstanding performances he has delivered for DS Penske. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
Vandoorne himself said: “My journey with DS Penske has been an incredible experience. I am thankful to the team for their unwavering support and look forward to the new challenge ahead.”
Vandoorne’s departure from the team confirms recent speculation of a move away, with a switch to Maserati MSG Racing heavily-rumoured, with a potential swap with Max Günther, who is thought to be partnering Jean-Eric Vergne from Season 11.
