Mitch Evans went fastest in this morning’s final practice for the second race of the FIA Formula E double-header in Portland.
The Jaguar TCS Racing man set a time of 1:08.659s, despite a slide off the circuit midway through the half-hour.
Team-mate Nick Cassidy was second, just 0.044s slower than his compatriot and team-mate.
Jake Hughes’ impressive one lap form continued with third place [+0.107s] with Antonio Felix da Costa [+0.158s] closely following in fourth.
Sébastien Buemi, who endured problems early in race 1 and finished at the foot of the pack, was fifth [+0.213s], with Dan Ticktum showing good pace once again with sixth [+0.278s].
Norman Nato, who qualified second [but started 12th after a grid penalty] on Saturday, was seventh [+0.282s], with Robin Frijns, who drove brilliantly on Saturday to claim his first podium since round one, was eighth [+0.309s].
Edoardo Mortara, who has recently been heading-up a mini revival for the struggling Mahindra, was ninth [+0.376s], followed by Sacha Fenestraz, who rounded-off the top 10 [+0.419s].
Both the Jaguar drivers will be looking to bounce back from a torrid race 1, with Cassidy spinning out from the lead on the penultimate lap, and Evans finishing eighth despite taking the chequered flag due to a five second time penalty received after making contact with Hughes’ McLaren, a decision he called a “disgrace”. Cassidy later claimed that he was “one lap away” from winning the Drivers’ championship, as victory would have opened-up a 50 point lead over Pascal Wehrlein with only three races remaining.
