Akkodis ASP Team has announced Clemens Schmid to take Timur Boguslavskiy’s seat in the #78 Lexus RC F LMGT3 for the remaining 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship races.
Boguslavskiy will depart the Akkodis ASP outfit having raced for them since 2019, claiming two GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup titles in addition to being a three-time runner-up in their Sprint Cup championship.
After being ill for the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, DTM regular Clemens Schmid was brought in to compete with co-drivers Arnold Robin and Kelvin van der Linde and secured 10th place.
Boguslavskiy recently took part in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which he finished seventh in the LMGT3 category with Robin and K. van der Linde.
Schmid has a substantial background in GT racing with numerous sprint and endurance commitments since 2015, with a 2023 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup – Silver Cup – title.
As a regular for Grasser Racing Team in recent GT3 commitments, for his third DTM season this year, he switched to a McLaren 720S GT3 EVO package with Dorr Motorsport as he took his best finish so far of fourth at Zandvoort (Race 1).
The WEC has completed its European stint on the 2024 calendar and will head to Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 14 for a six-hour race.
Whilst the WEC has competed from 2012 to 2014, Schmid will make his first appearance at the famed venue, before the calendar continues with two more six-hour races at the Circuit of the Americas, Texas, and then to Fuji Speedway.
The season will conclude at the traditional 8 Hours of Bahrain at the beginning of November.
