Home hero Carlos Sainz topped the third and final Formula 1 practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday, setting a 1:13.013s benchmark in his Ferrari.
Sainz was just 0.030s clear of McLaren’s Lando Norris with the Formula 1 pecking order proving as tight as ever, given Sainz’s F1 team-mate Charles Leclerc was only 0.037s back in third.
Just 0.151s covered the top five, which was completed by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell.
Lewis Hamilton, who topped FP2 on Friday afternoon, finished sixth, with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez posting the seventh-fastest time.
The spread across the top-10 runners came in under nine-tenths of a second, building anticipation for Saturday afternoon’s F1 qualifying session.
Alex Albon impressed for Williams in eighth, ahead of Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.
