The Formula 1 Exhibition is coming to the United Kingdom for the first time and will open in London on August 23, 2024.
The London ExCel Centre, well known in motorsport circles as the host of the FIA Formula E London E-Prix, is the venue chosen to welcome the exhibit after previous stints in Madrid and Vienna.
The inaugural Madrid show opened in 2023 at the IFEMA exhibition centre which will return to F1 as backdrop to the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix.
In Madrid, the F1 Exhibition became Spain’s biggest temporary show of 2023 and featured iconic F1 artefacts including the charred remains of the Haas car that saved Romain Grosjean’s life in the Frenchman’s scary 2020 Bahrain GP crash.
From Madrid, the F1 Exhibition moved to Vienna, Austria and ticket sales have recently surpassed Madrid’s tally as the torch is set to be handed over to London.
F1 Exhibition has also launched in North America with the Toronto, Canada venue achieving record-breaking presale numbers.
“It’s been incredible to see how fans around the world have reacted to the exhibition since opening last year,” said Lead Curator and Producer of The Formula 1® Exhibition Timothy Harvey.
“London was always going to be an incredibly special location for us, so I am looking forward to what’s to come.
“Each show recognises the national heritage of its host location, and as Britain is the home of racing this will be a really special show.
“There’s also some fantastic soon-to-be-announced additions coming to London, including incredible cars – I can’t wait to open our doors!”
Unsurprisingly, the F1 Exhibition in London will focus on the British Grand Prix and be brought to life with the help of the Silverstone Museum, a world-leading interactive motorsport exhibit situated next to the iconic British GP venue.
Fittingly, the F1 Exhibition in London will be the first to include simulators, in the very city the F1 Arcade simulator experience was launched.
Moreover, the exhibit will feature iconic images, videos and interviews from F1 history, explore the mindset of GP drivers past and present and inform attendees on the technological evolution of the sport.
“It’s fitting to bring The F1 Exhibition to the UK capital and pay tribute to the British teams and drivers and personalities who have etched themselves into F1 history,” said Formula 1 Chief Commerical Officer Emily Prazer.
“The F1 Exhibition has been incredibly popular since its launch in Madrid, and successful runs in Vienna and Toronto prove that it is a great way to engage with both hardcore fans and new audiences, whilst extending F1’s reach beyond the racetrack.
“London is one of the most cultural vibrant cities in the world, and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to the show.”
