Four manufacturers are fighting for overall Le Mans victory with 2 hours to go: Porsche, Toyota, Ferrari and Cadillac.
Miguel Molina currently leads for Ferrari in the #50 Ferrari 499P. He has a 2 second gap (after 22 hours of racing!) to the #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid of B Brendon Hartley, and Alessandro Pier Guidi in the sister #50 Ferrari third, a further 12 seconds off.
However, it has just started raining, again, with teams having to decide whether to put wets on or keep the slicks.
Alex Palou was fourth in the #2 Cadillac V-Series.R. He was on a different strategy which sees him pit later than the others, but with the change to wets they are now on the same strategy.
The #50 Ferrari, #8 Toyota, and #51 also pitted, from the lead, second and third. Vanthoor in the #6 Porsche 963 stayed out and completed his 12 lap stint, meaning he led for a few laps, then pitted for wets on schedule.
So, Nielsen leads from teammate Pier Guidi, making it a Ferrari 1-2. Jose Maria Lopez is third in the #7 Toyota, while Alexx Lynn is fourth. Fifth is the #6 Porsche of Laurens Vanthoor.
Brendon Hartley in the #8 Toyota is sixth. He was second but spun at the wet, greasy Mulsanne Corner, losing time as he found a gap to turn the car and get going again.
In LMP2, Oliver Jarvis leads in the #22 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson. He recently took the lead from Ben Barnicoat in the #183 AF Corse Oreca 07-Gibson, the long time leader in the class. Jarvis currently ;ies just 20 seconds ahead of Barnicoat, with Reshad de Gerus third, a further 2 seconds off, in the #28 IDEC Sport Oreca 07-Gibson.
Finally, Richard Lietz leads in the LMGT3 class for the #91 Manthery EMA Porsche 911 GT3R. Sean Gelael is second in the #31 WRT BMW M4 GT3, just seven seconds off the lead. Mikkel Pedersen is third in the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang Gt3, but he has two and a half minutes off the lead.
