Francesco Bagnaia finished the second practice session in the top spot thanks to a stunning lap time of 1.44.938 in the final few minutes, making him the only rider to finish in the 1.44’s.
Yamaha’s Alex Rins mustered a well-put lap time to finish behind with Pedro Acosta slotting himself in third place. Acosta used his spare bike after crashing his GasGas KTM on an out-lap at the tricky Turn 13 halfway through the session, leaving his best bike in tatters.
Trackhouse’s Miguel Oliveira finished closely behind in fourth, ahead of the Ducati trio of Marc Marquez, Enea Bastianini, and Jorge Martin, who are shortlisted for the factory Ducati role for 2025.
Alex Marquez put his Gresini bike in eighth to ensure both riders could make it to Q2, with Aprilia riders Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro rounding off the top ten.
Fabio Quartararo narrowly missed out on his Q2 place despite showcasing the improved Yamaha in both practices, ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio who was unable to improve on his best lap-time at the end of the session.
Late drama saw Brad Binder’s lap time invalidated due to track limits which meant he dropped down to 12th and will have to face Q1 tomorrow along with team-mate Jack Miller and wildcard outing Pol Espargaro who finished further down in 17th and 18th.
VR46 Ducati rider Marco Bezzecchi finished a miserable 14th with Pramac’s Franco Morbidelli behind, before Trackhouse’s front-row sitter from last week Raul Fernandez unable to finish practice higher than 16th.
Proceedings ended once more with Honda at the back with LCR riders of Takaaki Nakagami and Johann Zarco edging out Joan Mir.
Lorenzo Savadori sprung his Aprilia ahead of the struggling Augusto Fernandez, with Luca Marini rounding off proceedings in dead last.
