Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has claimed pole position for tomorrow’s Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, converting his promising practice pace into the top spot.
The Monegasque edged out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri as Carlos Sainz took third in the second Ferrari, with Lando Norris missing out on a top-three position.
George Russell claimed fifth as the lead Mercedes, while Max Verstappen had a moment at Turn 1 on his final lap and was resigned to ending down in sixth.
Lewis Hamilton was seventh for Mercedes, with Yuki Tsunoda again securing a top 10- start. Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly recorded their first Q3 outings in 2024.
There were two surprise eliminations in Q1 as Fernando Alonso was unable to haul his Aston Martin into the second stage, along with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.
