Enzo Fittipaldi has revealed that although has been advancing his career through the Formula 1 ladder, he still has eyes to the American racing scene, specifically the Indianapolis 500.
Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time F1 champion and two-time Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi, is currently competing F2 for Van Amersfoort Racing and has scored one win this season at Jeddah.
He also has an older brother, Pietro Fittipaldi, who has raced in various series around the world and is currently contesting a full season in the NTT IndyCar Series.
Pietro is set to run his second Indy 500 this upcoming weekend, and will start from the 30th position in the #30 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing entry.
When asked by Motorsport Week his how much he would like to join his older brother racing in the Indy 500, Enzo told selected media that competing in the event is one of his biggest dreams.
“I would love to race the Indy 500,” said the younger Fittipaldi. “One of my dreams, honestly, like [the] Indy 500 is probably on the same level for me as winning the F1 world championship.
“I think for my personal dreams, it’s always been something that, growing up, we always would watch the Indy 500, me and my family, you know, because my grandfather won it twice. My uncle Christian raced in there. So yeah, my uncle Max [Papis].
“So, you know, there’s a big history there and I would definitely love to one day participate in the Indy 500 and obviously hopefully one day win the Indy 500.”
Enzo has taken part in a solitary IndyCar test session with Dale Coyne Racing last year, but further plans have not been made for him to join his brother stateside in the series.
This weekend, the 22-year-old is competing in Monaco for the third time in Formula 2 machinery.
