Juncos Hollinger Racing has revealed special ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Titan’ liveries that will adorn the team’s two IndyCar entries for this year’s Indianapolis 500.
The two designs are styled in the team’s usual black and green colors, but have been customized to fit each driver’s nickname and personality.
Romain Grosjean’s #77 entry features a large phoenix symbol across the engine cover and sidepod, calling to the Frenchman’s nickname that he embraced after climbing from a fiery Formula 1 crash in 2020.
Agustin Canapino’s #78 entry features mechanical designs and metallic accents, which is representative of the Titan moniker he earned from years racing successfully in Argentina before he joined IndyCar.
Both cars have the nicknames written out on the rear wing as well, helping fans make the personal connection with the drivers.
“The Phoenix is how you take a bad experience and turn it into a good experience,” said Grosjean. “Obviously, my experience was in the fire, but The Phoenix is a way to say to people that they can do it.
“Just because you go through something brutal, it doesn’t mean that you can’t come back from it, rise from it, and reach a better level. That’s what I like about the Phoenix – it’s not the fire, it’s the rise after it.”
JHR is no stranger to special Indy 500 liveries, bringing new designs to each event since joining the top level series a few years ago.
The cars will feature the special liveries for the entirety of this year’s Indy 500 proceedings, starting with the first practice session scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
