IndyCar took to the IMS road course Friday afternoon for the second practice of the Sonsio Grand Prix weekend.
A short 45-minute session allowed drivers to continue refining their setups ahead of qualifying later in the afternoon.
Within the final couple minutes of the session, Will Power put his Team Penske Chevy into the top spot with a time of 1:09.6899, looking like he would end the day with the fastest lap.
He was bested by Christian Lundgaard, however, with the third-year driver completing a lap in 1:09.5588, just over a tenth faster than his competition.
Scott Dixon logged the third fastest time, the veteran showing, as usual, that he has the pace to put up a fight later in the weekend.
Scott McLaughlin and Felix Rosenqvist earned the fourth and fifth spots on the timesheet respectively, with each driver continuing his strong start to the 2024 season.
Graham Rahal and Marcus Armstrong, who both had their engines replaced between practice sessions, were able to take part in the entire 45 minute practice.
Rahal ended ninth on the charts, with Armstrong going two better and putting his #11 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda into the seventh position.
There was only one red flag during this session, as opposed to three during the opening practice, with Jack Harvey getting stuck in the grass.
He spun his Dale Coyne Racing Honda on the exit of Turn 10, and needed assistance from the AMR safety crew to get going again.
A couple other drivers spun on the same curbing, but Harvey was the only one that needed outside help to continue.
Knockout qualifying for the Sonsio Grand Prix takes place later this afternoon, with the first round getting under way at 4:20 PM to cap off a busy day on the 2.44-mile road course.
