Ferrari has revealed Charles Leclerc will have a new Formula 1 race engineer from next weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the team has confirmed in a statement.
Leclerc had heard the voice of Xavi Marcos since moving to Ferrari in 2019, with the Spaniard having remained in his role as Frederic Vasseur replaced Mattia Binotto.
However, Marcos will use the extensive experience that he has attained mentoring the Monegasque driver to switch to an alternate position within the Italian marque.
“Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that, as of Monday 13 May, Xavi Marcos will bring his valuable experience gained as a race engineer with the Formula 1 team to the development of other important company programmes,” a statement from Ferrari read.
Bryan Bozzi, who has worked at Ferrari for 10 years and served as Performance Engineer to Leclerc, will replace Marcos from Ferrari’s home round at the Imola track.
Ferrari added: “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Bryan Bozzi, who has worked in the team for ten years, currently as Performance Engineer to Charles Leclerc, will now take on the role of his Race Engineer as from next weekend’s Gran Premio del Made in Italy and dell’Emilia-Romagna at Imola.”
The Leclerc-Marcos partnership delivered five race victories, 23 pole positions and 33 podiums – including at last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix – across their 108 races.
