Max Verstappen has taken pole position for the Miami Grand Prix Sprint, edging out Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who managed to split the two Red Bull drivers.
The Dutchman posted a 1:27.641s to claim top spot in SQ3 with a tenth in hand over Leclerc, with Perez a further tenth adrift from his team-mate’s time.
Daniel Ricciardo wound up an impressive fourth for RB, with Carlos Sainz completing the top five, ahead of Oscar Piastri and the two Aston Martin drivers.
Lando Norris had looked a good bet to challenge Verstappen in the earlier segments but a mistake in the opening sector saw him cross the line a distant ninth.
Both Mercedes drivers failed to progress to the shootout for Sprint pole, with George Russell on the cusp in 11th and team-mate Lewis Hamilton down in 12th.
