VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio topped the timesheets of the one-day in-season MotoGP test at Jerez, posting a 1:36.405s laptime during a 70-lap stint.
Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales finished second in the test in the penultimate lap of his testing programme, with an effort just 0.087s shy of Di Giannantonio’s effort.
Franco Morbidelli continued his adaptation to the Ducati Desmoseidici GP24 machine, finishing third with a 1:36.527s laptime after 82 laps of running.
Spanish Grand Prix winner Francesco Bagnaia posted the fourth fastest time of the day, with Sunday’s runner-up Marc Marquez finishing in fifth.
KTM’s Brad Binder finished sixth fastest, with Vinales’ Aprilia team-mate Aleix Espagaro seventh.
Alex Marquez, Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martin completed the top-10.
The Yamaha duo of Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo got their hands on a newly revised M1 and completed 157 laps collectively, with Rins the quicker of the pair in 14th with a 1:37.024s effort.
Raul Fernandez was able to try out the Aprilia RS-GP24 for the first time with Trackhouse Racing and posted the 12th fastest time of the day.
Honda’s form compared to the other manufacturers continued to be poor, with Takaaki Nakagami the leading ride for the Japanese marque in 16th and the remaining three all sat in the bottom five of the timesheets although Johann Zarco clocked the most laps with 89.
