Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns went fastest in FP3 ahead of today’s second race of the Misano E-Prix double-header.
The Dutchman set a time that broke into the one minute sixteen seconds barrier, seven hundredths of a second ahead of Pascal Wehrlein. NEOM McLaren’s Jake Hughes, who was fourth in qualifying before disqualification, was third, showing further speed which is an encouraging sign ahead of another qualifying session.
Jaguar TCS Racing duo Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans were fourth and fifth respectively, with Antonio Felix da Costa sixth, looking to bounce back after a rollercoaster Saturday, having taken a superb victory from 14th, only to be disqualified late in the evening for a technical infringement.
Jean-Eric Vergne, no doubt still smarting from a five second penalty that he called “the most unfair” of his career, was seventh, the DS Penske car still looking promising over a single lap, which puts them firmly into contention again for today’s race.
Oliver Rowland, who inherited the win from da Costa and now leads the Drivers’ Championship, was eighth, with Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries a very respectable ninth, showing that it could be anyone’s race again today.
Sebastien Buemi rounded-up the top ten, all of which were within half-a-second of Frijns’ time.
