It is another race week and another brand new circuit on the FIA Formula E calendar. Motorsport Week has you covered for everything you need to know ahead of the Misano E-Prix.
Tag Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein arrives in Italy with a slender two point advantage in the Drivers’ Championship, ahead of Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy. But with Maserati MSG Racing’s Max Gunther becoming the fifth winner in five races in Tokyo last time out, he and runner-up Oliver Rowland are in hot pursuit of the leading pack.
CIRCUIT
A purpose-built circuit commonly known to MotoGP fans, encompassing 14 corners and a length of 3.381 km, Misano is set-up to host a peloton-style race, similar to Sao Paulo two races ago. The first and last sectors of the circuit are the slowest, but much of the track is fast, with long straights and fast, sweeping corners towards the end of the second sector. Attack Mode can be activated at the turn 12 hairpin.

NEWS OF NOTE
F1 stars praise FE
At last weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, the top three finishers told the media their opinions of Formula E. Max Verstappen, although saying FE is “not a category I would like to drive in myself in the future,” did say “competition is very high” due to the “good drivers” in the series, adding: “I always enjoy it because the talent in the series is very high and that’s of course what I think makes it more exciting to watch.”
Verstappen however did joke about the Tokyo street circuit, commenting: “It was very cool to see the track in the city but then at the same time, there was a proper jump in the track, so I don’t even known who signed that off, but he must have been drunk.”
Fellow Red Bull driver Sergio Perez agreed with his team-mate, saying: “I think it’s great to have a seires that gives an opportunity to drivers that cannot be in Formula 1 or other series, just to have another series where they can earn their money, live from the passion.”
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also praised the championship, commenting he has “a lot of good friends there that I fought against in different categories,” adding: “And it’s just great to see that they have this opportunity.”
“And it’s also good racing, as they say.
“So happy that it exists.”
