Former Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner has been named an ambassador for the upcoming 2024 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
Steiner had been in charge at Haas since its inception in 2016, but his contract was not renewed amid the team’s slump to the bottom of the Constructors’ standings.
However, it was announced on the eve of the campaign that Steiner would remain involved in F1 with a series of television appearances, starting at the Bahrain opener.
The Italian was also present in Australia last weekend to conduct the top three interviews post-race and he will now be attending the Miami GP in an ambassadorial role.
“I’m excited to serve as an Ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix, which has become one of my favourite races of the year,” said Steiner.
“I’ve seen first-hand the incredible growth Formula 1 has had in the United States and it has so much potential to continue growing, especially with races like Miami as part of the circuit.
“The event, which reflects the bold vision of the organisers, pairs American spectacle and F1 racing with a vibrant atmosphere at the track and throughout the city itself.”
Steiner has become one of the most popular figures and a household name in F1 since the launch of the Netflix Drive to Survive series in 2018 showcased his persona.
The ex-Haas boss, who resides in the United States, admitted earlier this month that he would contemplate a return to an F1 management role in the right circumstances.
“Guenther has become a household name with F1 fans of all ages and is a perfect ambassador for our race,” Miami GP president Tyler Epp added.
“He embodies the competitive spirit of the sport and has a clear vision of what F1 in America can be.
“Having someone with his experience, reputation and candour attached to our event will undoubtedly add to the excitement and elevate race weekend to a new level.”
The Miami International Autodrome, a 3.363-mile purpose-built temporary street track around the Hard Rock Stadium, is hosting its third-ever F1 grand prix in 2024.
