Abbi Pulling has gained her first Race win of the 2024 F1 Academy season after the Race 2 winner Doriane Pin received a penalty for taking the chequered flag twice.
After dominating the opening weekend of the 2024 season of F1 Academy, Pin fell under controversy in the final moments of Race 2 as she completed two more laps after the chequered flag was waved.
The Mercedes Junior Driver won the race with nearly two seconds to spare scoring the fastest lap until a communication issue left her confused, leaving her to circle the track two more times at full speed until the red flag was waved.
Pin was noted for investigation at the end of the race which resulted in the Iron Dame collecting a 20-second penalty for taking the chequered flag twice after claiming her engineers failed to tell her that the race had ended.
Two more drivers were issued post-race penalties including the Charlotte Tilbury driver Lola Lovinfosse and the Visa Cash App RB driver Amna Al Qubaisi following further investigations for the on-track action.
Lovinfosse picked up a five-place grid penalty for the next race she participates in after a further look into the Turn 1 incident with Lia Block found her wholly responsible for causing the collision.
Al Qubaisi has been handed a five-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage while exceeding track limits at Turn 22 in a move against Aurelia Nobels which saw her cut the inside of Turn 23.
The Alpine Junior Driver has adopted the win after a spectacular performance saw her tailing behind the Iron Dame throughout the weekend, being the only driver to come close to the Frenchwoman after starting from second.
This race win makes Pulling the first Alpine driver in 2024 to not only score a point but snatch a win, as Nerea Martí gets bumped up to third place in Jeddah.
