Dale Coyne Racing has announced a multitude of drivers for the upcoming NTT IndyCar Series season, mere days before the opening practice session is set to get underway.
The team left their driver announcement quite late, and have shaken up the standard format by announcing three different drivers to fill the seats of their two cars across the 17-race season.
Driving the #18 Honda for a majority of the season will be Jack Harvey, who was available after he was let go from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing towards the end of last season.
Harvey will pilot the car for 14 of the season’s races, including the season-opening round from the streets of St. Petersburg this upcoming weekend, and will have INVST sponsorship on the sidepods.
“I’m thrilled to join Dale Coyne Racing for this season,” Harvey said. “I want to thank Dale [Coyne], INVST and many other supporters for giving me this opportunity to return to the NTT IndyCar Series and continue this journey.
“St Pete has always been a city, and circuit, that I have loved and it’s great to have the opportunity to start this new chapter at one of my favorite events.”
For the remaining rounds of the 2024 calendar, Nolan Siegel will step up into the #18. The talented 19-year-old will still compete a full season in IndyNXT with HMD Motorsports, but will make his IndyCar debut at four rounds spread across the season.
Most notably, Siegel will race in the Indianapolis 500 on May 26. That decision is huge for the young driver, and will give him plenty of opportunity to make a name for himself on the big stage.
He will also race in the $1 million challenge at The Thermal Club, Long Beach, and Toronto, all weekends where IndyNXT does not have its own race.
“I’m super excited to be joining Dale Coyne Racing for Thermal, Long Beach, the Indianapolis 500 and Toronto in the #18 car this season,” Siegel said.
“It’s a lifelong dream come true for me to be racing in the NTT IndyCar Series. I can’t wait to make the most of this opportunity.
“Huge thank you to Dale [Coyne], everyone at the team and everyone that has been a part of my career up until now that’s helped get me here. Thermal is right around the corner. We’re going to get to work, and I can’t wait to get back in the car.”
Dale Coyne Racing will be fielding a second car as well in partnership with Rick Ware Racing, with sportscar ace Colin Braun getting a shot in the open wheel series.
Braun only has a deal to pilot the #51 at St. Petersburg and The Thermal Club for now, with the driver lineup for the rest of the season still not decided.
Braun and Harvey will be taking their newly-appointed cars out for the first laps of the season on Friday, as they tackle the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
