United Autosports has revealed a ‘Le Mans-inspired’ look for both of their #59 and #95 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo entries for the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Created by Sean Bull Design, the two liveries are inspired by the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours-winning #59 McLaren F1 GTR combining a black and papaya look.
The Yorkshire-based team will represent McLaren in the FIA WEC’s new LMGT3 category this year as one of nine participating manufacturers.
“This is a proud moment, unveiling the new look of McLaren on its return to Le Mans and the WEC,” said Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO.
“The design has racing heritage at its core, harking back to the 1995 Le Mans winner, while being – unmistakeably – part of the current McLaren family.
“It’s an exciting addition to the 2024 McLaren line-up, complimenting the Formula 1, IndyCar and Formula E designs.
“They look like winning cars, and we have big ambitions.”
Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive, added: “We are proud to present the 720S GT3 EVO in conjunction with our Racing Partner United Autosports ahead of our WEC debut in Qatar with an exciting driver line-up.
“Racing is intrinsic to the McLaren brand and the WEC is the perfect arena to demonstrate the performance capabilities of our supercar engineering programmes. We are also pleased to celebrate our victory in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans with our livery, which is a hugely important part of McLaren history.”
The #59 – which will be driven by Gregoire Saucy, James Cottingham, and Nicolas Costa – features with a papaya windscreen header and wing mirrors, whereas the #95 – set to be driven by Marino Sato, Nico Pino and Josh Caygill – is distinguished with a black windscreen header and wing mirrors.
The two cars will make their first on-track appearance next week at the Prologue in Qatar on 24-25 February, hosting two days of pre-season testing.
One week later on 2 March, the 1812 km race will commence the season and the new LMGT3 era.
