The Iron Dames has announced its full 2024 driver roster, with nine female drivers representing the project across multiple series.
Founded in 2018 by Deborah Mayer, the Iron Dames project has become a mainstream presence in sportscar racing and beyond, furthering female representation in motorsport.
The Iron Dames’ “Women Driven By Dreams” motto was personified by the historic GTE-Am victory in the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship season finale, the Eight Hours of Bahrain, when Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey became the first all-female crew to win in the FIA WEC.
In 2024, the Iron Dames will compete in the FIA WEC, IMSA Endurance Cup, European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and Michelin Le Mans Cup, whilst also forging new stories in the F1 Academy Series plus the French Rally and French Gravel Rally Championships.
Bovy, Gatting and Doriane Pin will contest the FIA WEC in a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, starting with the 1812Km of Qatar on March 02.
Pin will balance her FIA WEC duties with an inaugural campaign in the all-female single-seater series, F1 Academy, as a Mercedes Junior Driver and her single-seater preparations have been coming along well with a maiden pole and victory in the latest round of the Formula 4 UAE Championship.
The Dames will take the Hurucan GT3 EVO2 across the globe, with Bovy, Gatting and Frey continuing in the IMSA Endurance Cup following a best-ever result in the Daytona 24 Hours last month, finishing sixth in the GTD class with the help of fourth driver Pin.
The FIA WEC race-winning trio will also take part in the ELMS this season.
In the Michelin Le Mans Cup, two new Dames join the squad in the form of Celia Martin and Karen Gaillard.
Meanwhile, 2024 marks the Iron Dames’ first foray into the world of rallying.
Driver Sarah Rumeau, and co-driver Julie Amblard are set to take on the French Rally Championship and French Gravel Rally Championship in a Ford Fiesta Rally2 machine.
At grassroots level, Natalia Granada will wear the Iron Dames colours in the IAME Euro Series / Spanish Championship (CEK).
“2024 marks a significant milestone in the development of our project with the opening of new horizons and the arrival of new athletes as Iron Dames,” said Project Founder Mayer.
“The diversity and quality of the lines-up symbolise our commitment to uniting women in various disciplines under a common banner of excellence.
“The Iron Dames project is not just about racing; it’s about creating opportunities and inspiring every individual, regardless of gender, to believe in their dreams.
“Our success has been a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and determination.
“We are thrilled to kick off the 2024 season. I wish all the Iron Dames the best of luck and success, I firmly believe that there are no barriers that cannot be overcome and no dreams that we cannot achieve together.”
