21-year-old Antonio Serravalle will drive Isotta Fraschini’s Tipo 6 LMH Competizione next year in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class, the Italian manufacturer has announced.
The car and programme will be run by French team Duqueine, with technical support from Isotta Fraschini.
However, contrary to other reports, Serravalle is not the team’s third and final driver. The full three-driver lineup, including Serravalle, will be announced tomorrow, an Isotta Fraschini spokesperson confirmed via email to MotorsportWeek.com. However, this line up will not include one of the previously-announced drivers — Jean-Karl Vernay or Alex Garcia — the team spokesman also confirmed.
Silver-rated Serravalle has competed in both single seaters and sportscars in his so-far short career. The Canadian raced last year in the Daytona 24 Hours, win the LMP3 class, with FastMD Racing, in a Duqueine D08. He also raced in the LMP3 class in the IMSA Sportscar Challenge, for Mühlner Motorsports America. In 2022, he competed in Indy Lights with Abel Motorsports.
“The last month was incredibly challenging for Duqueine Engineering and Isotta Fraschini to bring this project to life,” said Max Favard, Isotta Fraschini Duqueine team manager.
“We have all worked hard to find a good compromise between experienced drivers and future racing stars.
“With Antonio Serravalle behind the wheel of the Tipo 6, a LMH vehicle fine-tuned and developed by Isotta Fraschini and Michelotto, we can achieve and write an amazing story. I’m really happy to be part of this new era of endurance. Chapter One will start in Qatar.”
Meanwhile, Serravalle said: “I feel incredibly honored to compete alongside renowned automotive brands like Isotta Fraschini and Michelotto Engineering, both with their rich history.
“Being part of the prestigious WEC racing series, particularly in the top-tier LMH hyper car category, is truly surreal. I extend my gratitude to Duqueine and Remstar Management for believing in me and providing this extraordinary opportunity.”
