British 18-year-old Oliver Bearman will act as one of Ferrari’s reserve drivers in Formula 1 this season.
Bearman, part of Ferrari’s Driver Academy, claimed four victories in Formula 2 last year and will remain in the championship in 2024 with Prema.
Bearman also had an association with Haas in 2023, fulfilling the team’s requirement to run a rookie driver in two FP1 sessions, and he also participated in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
Bearman joins Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Shwartzman as Ferrari reserve drivers.
Giovinazzi, who claimed overall honours at Le Mans in 2023, and Shwartzman are both set to contest the World Endurance Championship this season, with five of its rounds clashing with Formula 1 grands prix.
Meanwhile Arthur Leclerc will join Davide Rigon and Antonio Fuoco as a development driver.
Bearman and Leclerc will both be in action in Formula 1 machinery next week at Spanish Grand Prix venue Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Ferrari is due to hold a tyre test in its SF23, with regular race drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in action, sharing duties across Monday and Tuesday.
The younger Leclerc will make his Formula 1 test debut in Ferrari’s 2022-spec car, the F1-75, on Monday, with Bearman due to drive on Wednesday.
