Gresini Ducati became the first MotoGP outfit to unveil its 2024 design on Saturday evening, with brothers Marc and Alex Marquez on hand to show off their new weapons.
The team revealed its 2024 paint scheme to the world during a special launch event at a nightclub in Riccione, Italy. The livery closely resembles the one it has campaigned across the past two seasons since becoming a Ducati customer operation.
The bright blue and red colors remain a principal part of the design, though surprisingly the signing of six-time premier class world champion Marc Marquez from Honda for this season hasn’t resulted in many more sponsor logos being included. Italian welding company Daiko now features on the bike’s rear, as does fellow newcomer and banking organization AUSGlobal.
Regarding the overall design, the red striping remains identical to that used last year by the team. The coloring of the numbers on the front of the Desmosedici’s has changed slightly from the white and red used last season by Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Gianantonio respectively. Marc’s iconic #93 inherits the red used by the outgoing Di Gianantonio, while Alex switches to black numbering for his second term with the squad.
Alex will be looking to build upon an encouraging first season with Gresini, the 2019 Moto2 world champion securing a pair of sprint wins and two Sunday rostrums en route to eighth in the riders standings. Marc meanwhile will be keen to bounce back after two punishing years with Honda, the Spaniard looking to score a win for the first time since the back end of 2021.
His move to Gresini Ducati, where he will pilot a GP23 machine that took Francesco Bagnaia to the title last year, marks the first time he will compete in the premier class away from Honda. Marc’s tumultuous 2023 saw him finish the year 14th in points, a sole grand prix podium finish coming at a sodden Japanese Grand Prix.
