Red Bull Junior Driver Tim Tramnitz will embark upon his debut in the Formula 3 series this season with MP Motorsport, the team has announced.
Tramnitz was signed up to Red Bull’s driver development scheme after accruing three wins to claim third place in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.
Prior to his involvement in FRECA, the 19-year-old, who secured multiple German karting titles, finished runner-up in both the ADAC and Italian F4 categories in 2021.
The German participated in each of the three F3 post-season tests last season with MP Motorsport, who ended up third in the Teams’ Championship standings last term.
“It’s wonderful to be able to step up to FIA Formula 3 with a team such as MP Motorsport,” Tramnitz said.
“They have won in every single-seater category that they have competed in, and I’m confident that their experience will contribute to being on the pace in FIA F3 straight out of the blocks. It was a joy to test the car at those three tracks, and I worked well with the team. So now let’s translate that to the races – I can’t wait to get started!”
MP Motorsport Team Principal Sander Dorsman detailed that the Dutch squad had been impressed with Tramnitz’s test outings as he gears up for his third-tier debut.
“We are truly happy to see Tim become a new member of our FIA Formula 3 driver line-up,” he added.
“He has been a force to be reckoned with all through his time in FRECA, so he is more than ready for his step up to the next level.
“The tests showed that he’s up there among the more experienced drivers, I’m sure that Tim will do the Red Bull name proud in 2024.”
