Proton Competition has unveiled its striking liveries which will adorn its new Ford Mustang GT3 cars in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The German outfit will field two entries in the newly formed LMGT3 class and has subsequently confirmed who out of their already confirmed driving roster will drive each machine.
The stunning light blue #77 Ford Mustang GT3 is set to be driven by Ryan Hardwick, Zacharie Robichon and Ben Barker.
In the black and gold #88 entry will be Giorgio Roda, Mikkel O. Pedersen and Dennis Olsen.
Proton Team Principal Christian Ried is excited to be embarking on this new challenge with the Mustang GT3 and praised his driver lineup in the process.
“We’re moving into this new era with strong drivers who have been a part of the Proton family for a long time, and who know our team very well,” he said.
“They have a myriad of experience from various racing series and will help us to be successful in this championship with our new partner Ford.”
Last year, in the final season of the GTE Am class, Proton fielded Porsche 911 RSRs and after many years tied with the German marque now enters this new partnership with Ford.
However, Proton shall remain closely tied with Porsche, fielding a 963 in the WEC Hypercar category, as well as in the GTP class in IMSA, alongside its stateside Mustang GTD entry.
In the WEC, Proton will feature strong competition in the LMGT3 field consisting of 18 entries with brands Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Lexus, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche set to battle with Ford.
The 2024 season begins with the Qatar Prologue on February 24-25, which precedes the first of eight races in this year’s FIA WEC – the Qatar 1812 Km on March 02.
