Nani Roma has retired his Ford Ranger just 24km into stage seven with an unspecified mechanical issue.

Matias Ekstrom, second in the overall standings at the halfway point of the Dakar, has come to a standstill for 15 minutes at km 47km. This would elevate Sebastian Loeb into second in the virtual standings
