IMSA has published the Balance of Performance measures ahead of the upcoming Roar Before the 24 testing and qualifying weekend which precedes the 24 Hours of Daytona season-opener.
Specific details of the BoP measures have been published ahead of the beginning of the 2024 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Following the IMSA-sanctioned December test at the end of 2023, the Roar Before the 24 will take place on 19-21 January at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course.
Within the tables, comparisons can be drawn as GTP enters its second season, as both the Acura ARX-06 and Porsche 963 weigh more than last year.
The Acura was at 1030 kg last year – which was the identical weight figure for all four LMDh makes – and is now at 1072 kg.
Meanwhile, the 963 has been upped to a minimum weight of 1051 kg, as BMW’s M Hybrid V8 is minutely increased to 1031 kg, and the Cadillac V Series.R remains at 1030 kg.
In regards to the maximum stint energy allocation, the Acura holds on to a 920 MJ figure from last year, though the other three manufacturers are reduced: Porsche at 917 MJ, BMW with 908 MJ, and Cadillac with 902 MJ.
Despite the sole Ligier JS P217 Gibson LMP2 fielded by Sean Creech Motorsport, with the rest favouring the renowned Oreca 07 Gibson package, there will be equal measures between the two cars.
Across GTD and GTD Pro, there are 11 GT3 models in which IMSA has identified the BoP measures for, including three new cars for 2024.
Chevrolet’s Corvette Z06 GT3.R and the Ford Mustang GT3 weigh in at 1335 kg and 1315 kg, and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo has a figure of 1325 kg.
