AO Racing has unveiled a new purple and orange dragon livery and mascot for their #99 Oreca 07 LMP2 entrant, ahead of the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
‘Spike the LMP2 Dragon’ has been introduced as the team’s new, second competitor in IMSA, alongside ‘Rexy’ which will front a GTD Pro campaign this year.
Their driver crew for the 24 Hours of Daytona, the opening round of the 2024 season, will consist of full-season drivers PJ Hyett and Paul-Loup Chatin, joined by Matthew Brabham and Alex Quinn.
Team principal Gunnar Jeannette said: “After many months of incubation, we are finally ready to hatch Spike to the world of racing.
“Rexy has been such a big hit across the globe in his debut year, that we wanted to give all the fans a dragon to cheer for in LMP2.
“We hope that everyone will give Spike a warm welcome to the IMSA paddock.”
The LMP2 category at Daytona will feature 13 entries, with all but one team utilising the widely-renowned Oreca 07 LMP2 car.
AO Racing are making their first steps into the LMP2 world, also partnering with UK-based outfit TF Sport for a debut in the European Le Mans Series.
The 24 Hours of Daytona will take place on 27-28 January, kicking off a seven-round campaign for IMSA’s LMP2 competitors.
