Gus Greensmith has revealed he will continue with a Toksport-run Fabia RS Rally2 as he makes a bid to win the 2024 WRC2 title.
The British driver previously competed with Toksport and Skoda in last year’s WRC2 campaign, finishing runner-up with 111 points to champion Andreas Mikkelsen’s 134-point haul.
The 27-year-old joined a host of names to have already revealed their 2024 WRC2 commitments when he announced his return with Toksport and Skoda on Friday.
Greensmith joins Oliver Solberg in utilising Skoda machinery in 2024, with the likes of Sami Pajari having confirmed a campaign in the newly homologated GR Yaris Rally2 and Yohan Rossel, Nikolay Gryazin and Marco Bulacia all competing in a Citroen C3 Rally2.
“It’s fantastic to be with Škoda for 2024,” Greensmith said.
“We had great success together in 2023 and both share the collective ambition to fight for the World Championship this year.
“But, instead of finishing second, our goal is to be one place higher and win the championship.
“That’s the aim, and with operations being looked after by Toksport, I am really looking forward to continuing my work with Škoda Motorsport.”
Greensmith’s WRC2 campaign last year, in which he finished runner-up, saw him collect two WRC2 Rally wins, one in Mexico and the other in Portugal.
The British driver also finished second in class on two occasions, with his moments on the second step of the WRC2 podium coming in Greece and Chile.
According to DirtFish, Greensmith’s campaign won’t kick off in the season-opening Rallye Monte Carlo at the end of this month, but his 2024 competition plans will be exclusive at WRC level in the WRC2 class whilst using national events to prepare for each world championship round.
