Pfaff Motorsports has unveiled their #9 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO livery for the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, as they begin a chapter with a new manufacturer for the first time in GTD Pro.
The Canadian team has typically run Porsche 911 GT3.R entries in IMSA since the 2019 season, with the exception of their hiatus in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
During their five year partnership, they completed two seasons in the GTD category before moving up to the GTD Pro class.
They have claimed 12 class wins, having triumphed GTD in 2021 before also taking the GTD Pro title in 2022.
Just one victory marked a difficult 2023 with the new 992 model of the Porsche 911, so they announced earlier in the year about their intentions to switch to the McLaren 720S package for its first appearance in GTD Pro.
The new livery incorporates subtle elements of the plaid aesthetic in reference to the team’s Canadian roots, although appearing more faint in comparison to their outgoing livery.
Furthermore, it utilises McLaren’s signature papaya orange colour which is affiliated across their major motorsport commitments such as Formula 1 or IndyCar.
Their McLaren will be driven by an accomplished driver crew: Former Daytona 24 Hours (2022) winner Olly Jarvis and factory driver Martin Kirchhoefer for the full-season, ex-IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe at three endurance races, and Alexander Rossi at the Daytona 24 season-opener.
Pfaff will chase down their second Daytona 24 victory next month on 27-28 January 2024.
