With just 31 days remaining until the first race of the 2023/24 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Mahindra Racing have unveiled a striking new livery.
For the first time in the Banbury-based team’s history, Mahindra will run a livery with a matte finish, consisting of matte red, silver and desert grey. The very different design to season nine has been created in partnership with Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE).
Season 10 is, of course, Mahindra’s 10th campaign in Formula E, something which is represented on the engine cover of the new livery. Five Mahindra logos are positioned on either side of the engine cover, representing their 10 years in the all-electric series.
Mahindra will be hoping that season 10 goes significantly better than season nine, as they struggled in the opening campaign of the Gen3 era. Lucas di Grassi’s shock pole position and podium in the season nine opener was the team’s highest point of the calendar, before it all began to go wrong.
Their lowest point was having to withdraw from the Cape Town E-Prix, amid safety concerns with their suspension. Whilst some better results were salvaged in the closing rounds in Portland and Rome, season nine was undoubtedly one of the side’s worst in the championship. They ended the year 10th in the Constructors’ Championship.
With a brand new driver pairing of Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara, the side are hoping that they can begin to turn things around on 13 January 2024 in Mexico City.
Mahindra CEO and Team Principal Frederic Bertrand is “very excited” to show the world the side’s new livery, with it representing the Indian manufacturer’s “very proud history” in Formula E.
“It’s a new chapter for everybody at Mahindra Racing, and I’m very excited to unveil our livery for Season 10, which reflects both this, and celebrates our long-standing commitment to Formula E,” said Bertrand.
“We have a very proud history in the Championship as a team, and the objective is for the actions we are taking now, in the present, to help build a brighter future on-track. I can’t wait to see the cars take to the track in Mexico in the new livery.”
