Ayumu Iwasa will test for AlphaTauri in Abu Dhabi next week, his first outing in Formula 1 machinery.
Iwasa, third in this year’s Formula 2 championship, will drive the AT04 as part of Tuesday’s young driver test at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Regular race drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will split duties in the tyre test car.
Honda has also confirmed that Iwasa will return to his native Japan in 2024 to drive in Super Formula.
Iwasa will replace Liam Lawson at Team Mugen, with the five-time 2023 F1 starter switching to a full-time reserve role with Red Bull and AlphaTauri.
AlphaTauri handed its mandatory FP1 session to Isack Hadjar in Mexico City, with the Frenchman also set to partake in FP1 in Abu Dhabi with Red Bull.
