Max Verstappen topped Practice around the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar with a lap time of 1:27.428s, ahead of the Ferrari duo of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
With Qatar playing host to the fourth Sprint weekend of the year, Friday afternoon’s session is the one and only practice session of the weekend, with Qualifying set to commence later today.
Fernando Alonso wound up finishing in fourth place behind Verstappen and the two Ferraris, with Sergio Perez completing the top five in the second Red Bull, albeit 0.588s off of his teammate’s ultimate pace.
Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hulkenberg impressed with sixth and seventh respectively.
George Russell was the sole Mercedes representative inside the top-10, with the British driver setting the eighth-best time.
The top-10 was completed by the two McLaren drivers, with Oscar Piastri getting the better of teammate Lando Norris.
