Sebastien Buemi went fastest in free practice 2 at Fuji, in preparation for the 6 Hours of Fuji FIA World Endurance Championship race, with the Swiss driver setting a 1:29.523 to top the timing sheets in his #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid.
His teammate Kamui Kobayashi, in the sister #7 Toyota, was second, making it a Toyota 1-2. The Japanese racer was almost six tenths off Buemi, though.
FP2 was held on a dry track after the drying track surface dominated proceedings in FP1. This meant Buemi’s headline time was a full six seconds faster than Antonio’s Fuoco’s session-topping time in the earlier session.
The #38 JOTA Porsche 963 of Antonio Felix da Costa was third quickest in Hypercar, a second off Buemi’s time, while the fastest Ferrari belonged to Alessandro Pier Guidi in the #51 Ferrari 499P, just a few hundredths off Da Costa. Fifth was Michael Christensen in the #5 Porsche 963, a tenth slower than Pier Guidi.
In LMP2, Louis Deletraz was quickest in the #41 WRT Oreca 07-Gibson, setting a 1:33.131. Second was #28 JOTA Oreca 07-Gibson’s Pietro Fittipaldi, almost half a second off Deletraz, while Oliver Jarvis was third in the #23 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson, just five thousandths slower than Fittipaldi.
Davide Rigon topped the GTE-Am times in the #54 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, with the Italian lapping the Fuji Speedway circuit in 1:38.239. His teammate at AF Corse, Kei Cozzolino, was second in the sister #21 AF Corse Ferrari, 0.479 adrift, while another Ferrari made it a 1-2-3 for the Italian manufacturer, with Alessio Rovera in the #83 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari setting a 1:38.724, just six thousandths off Cozzolino.
